Minutes are provider counts as of 13 October 2026. The pattern is clear: nearly half of his playing time has come in Europe, a little under a quarter in the cup, and very little in the league. That shapes how to read his stats. One goal and one assist from roughly 330 minutes is a rate of about one goal involvement every 165 minutes, which compares well with most attacking midfielders in the league, but the sample is too small to say much.
Recent Form
Eze has had little game time in the league but he has made the starts that came up count. He set up a goal in the EFL Cup win at Ipswich, played 90 minutes for England against Czechia and scored against Lille in his most recent outing. Arsenal have won five of their six league games, are second in the table and have won both of their Champions League matches, so there is not much for the manager to change.

What Eberechi Eze’s Numbers Show
His league record is solid for a creator. Across 183 Premier League games he has 41 goals and 25 assists, which is a goal or an assist roughly every 2.8 games. Those totals are 34 goals and 23 assists in 147 games for Crystal Palace and 7 goals and 2 assists in 36 games for Arsenal. The Arsenal rate is lower because he plays in a team that has the ball for long periods and shares the final pass with others.
He scores more than most players in his position. FotMob rated his 2025/26 season at 6.99 on average, and its player-trait view put him near the top for goals and rating among attacking midfielders in the league. He took 7 league goals from a role that is meant to create, not finish, though Arsenal also have forwards who take most of the chances.
The minutes have dropped sharply. This season he has played about 85 minutes of a possible 540 in the Premier League, around 16%, and none as a starter. In cups and Europe he has been used more, starting 3 of 4 games. That split suggests Arteta uses him as the player who changes a match and not as the first-choice attacking midfielder in league games.
Set pieces are a modest part of his game. Fantasy Premier League’s notes list him as Arsenal’s third choice for direct free kicks, so he is not the main dead-ball threat. His 0.04 expected goals from 85 league minutes this season shows how little he has been involved so far.
The shootout miss was an outlier. One miss in the Champions League final does not define a career of 41 league goals, but it is the moment many supporters remember from his first Arsenal season. The next section sets it out in full.
The 2026 Champions League Final
Arsenal reached their second Champions League final, and their first since 2006, by beating Atlético Madrid 2-1 on aggregate in the semi-finals. They faced Paris Saint-Germain, the defending champions, at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest on 30 May 2026. Kai Havertz scored after six minutes. PSG dominated possession and Ousmane Dembélé levelled from the penalty spot in the 65th minute, and the game stayed 1-1 through extra time.
Eze took Arsenal’s second penalty in the shootout and dragged it wide. David Raya then saved from Nuno Mendes, Declan Rice scored, and the shootout reached 3-3 before Lucas Beraldo scored for PSG and Gabriel sent Arsenal’s last penalty over the bar. PSG won 4-3. Reports noted that Eze’s stuttering run-up has caused problems before: he missed his first senior penalty at QPR and a Community Shield shootout kick for Palace.
It was a painful end to a season in which Arsenal won the league for the first time in more than two decades. Eze had been a regular in the squad that did it, and he has since played in Europe again, scoring against Lille on 13 October.
Early Life: Greenwich and the London Academies
Eze was born in Greenwich, south-east London, and grew up playing local football. He joined the academy at Millwall, which is close to where he lived, and later moved to QPR in west London, where he developed into a professional. Arsenal were his boyhood club, and his path back to Arsenal is one of the notable stories in his career.
His family is of Nigerian descent, and his first name, Eberechi, is Igbo. He has spoken in the past about how much his family influenced his early career and about the rejections he faced at several academies as a teenager. Those setbacks shaped a player who developed late and who has always been willing to take on defenders.
He started on the road to a professional career at 18, making his first-team debut for QPR in 2016/17. He came through the youth ranks at a time when many London academies preferred strength and size, and he stayed with the game by working on his dribbling and his decision-making.
QPR and Wycombe Wanderers
Eze made his QPR debut at 18. In 2017/18 he went on loan to Wycombe Wanderers in League Two and scored his first senior goal on 7 October 2017, a brace against Cambridge United that earned a nomination for the league’s goal of the month. The loan gave him regular minutes at the lowest level of the professional game, and he returned to QPR with more physical confidence.
In the 2018/19 Championship season he became a regular in QPR’s team. His first senior penalty, taken with the stuttering run-up he still uses, was missed, but he kept taking them. By 2019/20 he was one of the most talked-about players in the second tier, and top-flight clubs began to take notice. Crystal Palace signed him in the summer of 2020.
Crystal Palace: Five Seasons in South London
Eze spent five seasons at Palace and played 147 Premier League games for the club, scoring 34 goals and making 23 assists. He began as a young player trying to adapt to the top flight and ended as the team’s leading creator and the player supporters trusted with the big moments. His dribbling and close control stood out in a side that often played on the counter-attack.
The high point was the FA Cup final in May 2025, when he scored the winner against Manchester City at Wembley and Palace won the trophy for the first time in their history. In August 2025 he was part of the Community Shield win over Liverpool, which Palace won on penalties, although he missed his own spot kick in the shootout.
Palace were never a rich club, and keeping Eze in a period when bigger clubs were interested was a feat in itself. In August 2025 he left for Arsenal, a move that returned him to the club he supported as a child. Palace received a fee that started at £60 million and could rise to £67.5 million.
Arsenal: A Title in Year One
Arsenal signed Eze on 23 August 2025 on a contract to 2029 with an option for 2030. He joined a squad that had come close to the title for several years and gave Mikel Arteta a creative option behind Viktor Gyökeres and next to Martin Ødegaard, Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke.
Why Arsenal wanted him. Arsenal’s summer of 2025 was one of their largest in years. They signed Martín Zubimendi for £55.8 million, Noni Madueke for an initial £48.5 million, Viktor Gyökeres for an initial £55 million and Cristhian Mosquera, and then added Eze for £60 million in August. The aim was to find players who could create chances and score goals in a side that had finished second in the league for three seasons. Eze fitted because he could beat a defender one-on-one and because he had already shown he could score in the Premier League.
His first season was a success. He played 32 league games for Arsenal, scored 7 goals and made 2 assists, and the club won the Premier League for the first time since 2004. He also played a part in the run to the Champions League final, which Arsenal reached after beating Atlético Madrid in the semi-final, though the shootout defeat to PSG remains the one blemish on his year.
The summer brought changes. Arsenal signed Christos Tzolis, Bruno Guimarães and Ezri Konsa, and Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus all left. Arsenal have won the Community Shield and are second in the league, but Eze has had to fight for a place in a crowded attacking midfield. He is still given the No. 10 shirt, and his two Champions League appearances so far have brought one goal.
Arsenal’s Champions League group. The league-phase draw gave Arsenal eight opponents: Real Madrid and Bayern Munich from the top pot, Borussia Dortmund and Real Betis, Lille and Napoli, and the newcomers Sabah and Slavia Prague. They have beaten Napoli and Lille so far and travel to Bayern on 21 October. European nights are where Eze has had most of his starts this season, so this schedule is his best chance to build a case for more minutes.

The 2025/26 Premier League row is the Arsenal portion of his 33-game season; he also played once for Crystal Palace that year before the transfer. Appearances in cups and the Champions League are not broken out for last season because provider totals differ. Club career totals for Arsenal are 60 appearances by Wikipedia’s count.

Arsenal have won nine of ten games and lost only at Brighton, where Eze came on for the last 17 minutes. Manchester City have won all six of their league games, so Arsenal sit second, three points behind, with the two clubs meeting at the Emirates on 29 November.
The defence has kept six clean sheets in the ten games and the team has scored three or more in four of them, which suggests that the attack is working without needing Eze in the starting line-up. Arsenal have 15 points from six league games and City have 18, and Arsenal’s next big league tests are at Liverpool on 1 November, at Newcastle on 21 November and the home game against City on 29 November.

He has not been sent off in the Premier League and has collected 12 yellow cards in those 183 games, according to The Analyst’s count. His league goals per game are about 0.22 and his assists per game about 0.14, so he contributes a goal or an assist roughly every 2.8 matches. Last season he scored 7 goals in 33 league games, the best total of his Arsenal career so far.
Eberechi Eze for England
Eze made his England debut on 16 June 2023 under Gareth Southgate, in a qualifying game against Malta. His progress at the international level was slower than at club level. He was left out of the Euro 2024 squad and spent time outside the picture before his form at Crystal Palace earned him a regular place under Thomas Tuchel.
Youth record. Before his senior debut Eze played for England at under-20 level, with 5 caps in 2018 and 2019, and at under-21 level, with 8 caps and 1 goal between 2019 and 2021. He has never played for any other country, though his Nigerian family background means that Nigerian supporters have followed his career closely.
He scored his first England goal in World Cup qualifying against Latvia, and he has 3 goals in 25 caps. His inclusion in the 2026 World Cup squad was seen as a reward for a strong first season at Arsenal: ESPN wrote that England had a gap at No. 10 once Cole Palmer, Phil Foden and Morgan Gibbs-White were left out. It was his first senior tournament. England finished third.
Palmer, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dominic Calvert-Lewin returned to Tuchel’s squad in September, which means more competition for Eze. He still played 90 minutes in England’s 3-0 win over Czechia on 6 October, the game in which Harry Kane had what he called a perfect night. His club role will matter: a player who is not starting at Arsenal faces a harder case for a starting place with England.
England at the 2026 World Cup. England were drawn in Group L with Croatia, Ghana and Panama and opened against Croatia in Dallas on 17 June. They reached the quarter-finals, where they beat Norway in Miami, and lost 2-1 to Argentina in the semi-final. They then played France in the third-place match and finished third, which is England’s best World Cup finish since they won the tournament in 1966. Eze was part of a 26-player squad that included Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka, and his exact minutes at the tournament are not confirmed in the sources used for this page.
The competition for his place. The England squad numbers published in September show how crowded the area is. Eze had 22 caps and 3 goals before the four-game window of September and October, Anthony Gordon 25 caps and 4 goals, Morgan Gibbs-White 6 caps and no goals, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin 12 caps and 4 goals. Cole Palmer returned to the squad for the same window. Tuchel can pick almost any of these players in the No. 10 role depending on the opponent.
| PLAYER | CAPS BEFORE SEPTEMBER WINDOW | GOALS |
|---|---|---|
| Eberechi Eze | 22 | 3 |
| Anthony Gordon | 25 | 4 |
| Dominic Calvert-Lewin | 12 | 4 |
| Morgan Gibbs-White | 6 | 0 |

Eze’s trophy count is small because his career has been spent mostly at clubs outside the top six until 2025. The Community Shield with Arsenal in August 2026 came after a 3-0 win over Manchester City, in which he appeared as a substitute.
Playing Style, Strengths & Tactical Role
Eze is a right-footed attacking midfielder who is most comfortable receiving the ball between the lines, turning and running at defenders. He plays from the left side or from the middle, and his best work comes when he can drift inside from the left onto his right foot.
Dribbling is his strongest quality. He carries the ball in tight spaces, uses sharp changes of direction and rarely loses it under pressure. He is also a good passer who looks for the early forward ball, and he shoots well from distance. The weaker part of his game is defensive work: FotMob’s player-trait data placed his defensive contributions in the bottom few percent among attacking midfielders in the league.
| Dribbling | His main strength. He turns away from pressure and drives forward in tight spaces. |
| Shooting | Takes shots from outside the box and scored 7 league goals in his first Arsenal season. |
| Passing and creativity | Sets up teammates with early balls; 25 league assists in his career. |
| Set pieces | Third choice for direct free kicks at Arsenal; penalties are not a strength. |
| Defensive work | Limited. His defensive contribution numbers are among the lowest for his position. |
Eze’s Role in a Crowded Arsenal Attack
Arsenal’s attacking players this season include Bukayo Saka, Martin Ødegaard, Kai Havertz, Noni Madueke, Christos Tzolis and Viktor Gyökeres, plus Mikel Merino and Bruno Guimarães in midfield. That is a lot of competition for the same few places, and Eze has started none of the six league games so far.
Arteta has used him as a cup and Europe player, where he started 3 of 4 games, and as a late substitute in the league. That is not necessarily a demotion, since squad rotation is a feature of a team playing three competitions. But it means his output depends on minutes, and he has 85 league minutes this season against more than 1,500 last year.
| PLAYER | ARSENAL APPS (ALL COMPETITIONS) | ARSENAL GOALS |
|---|---|---|
| Bukayo Saka | 315 | 83 |
| Martin Ødegaard | 238 | 44 |
| Declan Rice | 161 | n/a |
| Kai Havertz | 114 | 38 |
| Eberechi Eze | 60 | n/a |
The next few weeks give him the chance to change that. Arsenal play Bayern Munich in the Champions League on 21 October and Manchester City in the league on 29 November, and an injury or a poor run of form for one of the starters could open up a place. His England future also depends on how much he plays.
What it would take to start more. Eze’s route back into the league XI is easiest on the left side, where he can come inside onto his right foot, and in matches where Arsenal expect to have a lot of the ball and need someone to break a low block. Against a team that plays on the counter-attack the case for the faster wingers is stronger. His best argument is output: a goal and an assist from 8 games is a good return for roughly 330 minutes, and a goal against Lille added to a strong cup performance at Ipswich gives Arteta something to think about.
The long view. Eze is 28 and has a contract to 2029 with a one-year option, so he has several prime years left. FotMob’s value of about €74 million is close to his peak of €75 million in February, and clubs in other leagues are unlikely to pay more for a player who is not starting. The realistic scenario is a season in which he competes for minutes at Arsenal and tries to keep his England place for the next European Championship and the 2030 World Cup.
Dates to watch. Arsenal play at Nottingham Forest on 18 October and at Bayern Munich on 21 October, then host Everton on 24 October. They visit Liverpool on 1 November and host Manchester City on 29 November, and England’s next window comes in November. Any of those games could change Eze’s season, especially the Champions League trip to Munich.

Off the Pitch
Eze is known for being thoughtful in interviews and for talking openly about his family background and his path through football. He has said that being released by clubs as a teenager made him more determined, and that returning to the club he supported as a boy is a source of pride. In the build-up to the 2026 World Cup he spoke about how long the journey to a major tournament had been and about the people who helped him along the way.
